I trust, however, that the collotypes here used will be found adequate for the purpose of giving a realistic idea of the present state of the ruins. I have introduced three additional illustrations of work which has been completed since my first edition was published. For one of these, the Buddhist railing at Anuradhapura, I am indebted to Mr. Arthur E. Scovell; and for the others to Mr. W. L. H. Skeen. With these exceptions the illustrations are from my own photographs taken in the year 1896. | ||
