About the Author: U S Walia
U S Walia, Sr. Agronomist-cum-Head (Retd., ), Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana has teaching, research and extension experience for about thirty seven years. He handled nine adhoc research projects funded by national and international agencies especially in the field of weed science. His publications include six books, six book chapters, five research bulletins, four extension bulletins, twelve practical manuals, 325 publications (research and extension). Apart from these 93 recommendations (as co-worker) have been included in the package of practices for the benefit of Punjab farmers. He has guided 25 M.Sc. and 9 Ph.D. students. His contributions have been recognized through various awards viz., FAI Silver Jubilee Award-1984 for outstanding Doctoral Research in Fertilizer Usage, Fellow as well as Gold Medal of India Society of Weed Science during 2004 and 2007 respectively.
