Aims and Scope
The journal covers all the aspects of archaeology with emphasis on the latest excavations which are being carried out at that time to further reveal the details of individual culture or sometime on their chronological perspectives. The first volume of Puratattva was published in 1967-68 and thereafter, it is regularly published annually and released in the annual conference of the Indian Archaeological Society in the month of November – December subject to the date convenient to the host institution/state in collaboration with the society. The articles are invited by separate mail from the members of the Indian Archaeological Society, and other eminent archaeologists to submit their papers for inclusion in publication. The other components of the journal are Presidential Address on the theme of the national/international seminar in that particular year and also Memorial Lectures on some of the leading/eminent departed archaeologists of the country such as Dr. Y.D. Sharma, Prof. B.P. Sinha, Shri M.N. Deshpande, Rai Bahadur Hiralal Shastri and Dr. A.P. Khatri. We also include the report of annual conference in the journal along with other workshops conducted by the society, besides publishing obituaries of great archaeologists. Besides, the journal welcomes the submission from young researchers (Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral scholars) to contribute their papers, so that it may help them in formulating their opinion.
