There has been a steady increase in the demand of ornamental plants of tropic and sub-tropics in open field and protected structure for the production of flowers of superior quality and attractive pot plants including species and cultivars of house plants for a regular supply to domestic and export market round the year. During the last six decades, with the increase in awareness of the serious adverse effects of environmental pollution and climate change on living beings on the earth, deforestation, roadside plantation, landscaping, development of botanic gardens, arboretums, parks, private and public gardens have created a great demand for planting materials. In view of the facts stated above, it was considered necessary to bring out a publication comprising all major aspects of ornamental horticulture suitable for tropical and subtropical regions. Accordingly, the present publication entitled 'Tropical and Subtropical Garden Plants (In colour)' would be an authentic publication on the subject with more than 3000 colour illustrations in 540 pages, for providing a comprehensive knowledge on the major groups of ornamental plants for the benefit of students, researchers, nurserymen, landscape consultants, amateur and professional flower growers in tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
