Summary: Presently libraries are deeply engaged to modernize their operations and activities to provide fast, integrated, Interactive and comprehensive services to their stake holders. As a result, libraries are facing new challenges; new competitors, new demands, new expectations and a variety of information services. The new technologies have facilitated the social media and digital libraries. The Social media are used to e-books, online journals, online full-text databases, bibliographical databases, open access databases, etc. have gained respectable place in the higher education system. Today, the Social media have become a valuable, perhaps indispensable, not because of the added convenience of rapid information retrieval and sharing but also provide a means of making resources available at 24×7. It cannot be compared with printed materials. The growth of the Social Media and Digital libraries offer an opportunity to find information and data from all over the world. In these circumstances the authors were collected nearly 30 papers from Library and Information Science Professionals in the National level under following four themes. Theme 1: Innovative Technology and Digital Librarianship Theme 2: Harnessing of Digital Libraries Theme 3: Application of Social Media in Libraries Theme 4: LIS Research and User Perception About the Editor: Dr. S. Dhanavandan is working as Deputy Librarian at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur-610005. Tamil Nadu. He serves twenty three years in the LIS profession. He has guided Six Ph.D scholars and Doctoral Committee member in various Universities in Tamil Nadu. He has published more than 145 articles in National and International Journals and more than 175 papers presented and published in National and International Conferences. And he authored more than 35 books in Library and Information Science and 60 Chapters published in edited books. He has attended more than 50 Seminars/Workshops and training programmes. And he adjudicated many Ph.D theses of various universities in Tamil Nadu. He served as Chairperson and resource person in many workshop and conferences and also he organized more than 15 workshop and conferences.
