As geomorphology is the study of the surface of the Earth, its form, evolution and the processes that sculpture it, so geomorphology can be defined as the application of this knowledge in the resolution of engineering, planning and environmental/resource management problems. Geology and geomorphology is use of geomorphology to deal with real world issues of resource location and hazard reduction. The increasing importance of applied geomorphology is clear with the expanding role of geomorphologists in decision making, particularly in the methodology and implementation of environmental impact assessment (EIA).
