The book “Temple Entry Movement in Tamil Nadu” deals with one of the important socio-political agitations in the history of Tamil Nadu. It was a part of the escalating campaign ofmass civil disobedience, which marked a major watershed in the socio-political life of TamilNadu. The advent of Gandhji into the National Movement was a great blessing to the marginalised people. The formation of All India Anti-Untouchability League, HarijanSevakSangh, Gandhji'sHarijan Tour, Padayatras, Bhajans and SamabandiBhojanam mobilised thepopular will in favour of abolition of untouchability and temple entry to the Harijans. Thus theTemple Entry Movement created a cultural awakening among the Tamils and also broughta new sense of Dravidian consciousness and cultural pride which led to the rise of linguistic sub-nationalism in Tamil Nadu.
